High Tea Celebration
Sunday, April 13th from 3:30-5:00pm
At LUX Center for the Arts, 2nd floor multi-purpose room
LUX Center for the Arts invites the public to celebrate the first 100 years of its building with a High Tea Party Celebration on Sunday, April 13th from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The celebration kicks-off a year of 100year birthday events for the building featuring the theme, “A Journey from City Hall to LUX Center.” Events are being planned to mark the building’s importance to the community and to celebrate its present-day home as LUX Center for the Arts. “We hope the community will join us to share memories about the building’s changing roles throughout the years. There’s a lot of history on this corner and the LUX Center is proud to build our future here in the University Place neighborhood and Lincoln,” said Jo Ann Emerson, LUX Center for the Arts executive director.
This celebration will be held in the LUX Center’s second floor multi-purpose room and include remarks by local historian Ed Zimmer and special guests, Doug Emery, Carl Eskridge, Leirion Gaylor Baird and Coleen Seng. Guests will enjoy a variety of complimentary treats, teas, and wine provided by Italian Vine.
The LUX Center’s galleries and gift shop will be open during the celebration. Exhibitions currently on view are “Generation: Ceramic Art & the UNL Legacy 1999 – 2013”, “Mug Shots: 6th Annual Juried Cup Show” and “New Americans Spring Art Showcase” hosted by Nebraska Mosaic.
This event is free and open to all. Please join the LUX Center for the Arts in celebrating our home’s history as well as its future. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday, April 11th.
