The Murmuring Constellation by Camille Hawbaker
Reception: Friday, February 5 from 5-8 p.m.
View in our West Gallery through February 26
LUX represented artist Camille Hawbaker explores techniques in fiber arts and printmaking to create and simultaneously destroy her work. She manipulates the material by hand with printing, sewing, burning and etching to examine the tension between order and disorder in how the material shifts from woven to unraveling matter. Traditional methods inform her processes of making, which she adapts to suit her own purposes. These processes include etching, devore, embroidery, needle felting, weaving, dyeing and sewing. “The Murmuring Constellation” will be on display in our West Gallery through February 26.
