When school is out, creativity is in session! LUX offers camps for ages 5-8, 9-12, and 13-16. All camps coincide with LPS spring break or summer vacation.

June

 

Mini-Masters 
Students will learn about a famous movement in art and its prominent artists each day. Projects will allow students to explore the different styles of painting and sculpting artists have used throughout history.

Character Camp 
Paint, draw, and sculpt all kinds of characters! Students will design their own zombies, vampires, monsters, and more, to be the subjects of their art.

Clay Creations Camp (SYCAM-05)
This camp is perfect for kids who love clay! Students will learn a variety of techniques to make sculptures and pottery. Projects will change daily and from camp to camp so our repeat campers can try it all!

Bilingual Art Camp (SYCAM-03)
Your child will enjoy a total arts and language immersion experience. This camp will be taught in both English and Spanish. We will introduce native English speakers to Spanish and native Spanish speakers to English while exploring a variety of art-making processes.

Dinos, Dioramas and More (SYCAM-33)
This camp is perfect for kids who love dinosaurs, geology, history, and art! Students will start each day with a tour introducing them to a new exhibition on Nebraska natural history. After the tour students will spend the rest of camp creating art inspired by what they learn. A light snack will be provided. ***This class will take place at the University of Nebraska State Museum – Morrill Hall Located at 14th and Vine Streets – UNL City Campus, Lincoln, Nebraska

Art Zoo (SYCAM-10)
Students will have a blast learning about animals from all over the globe while exploring painting, drawing, ceramics, and mixed media art. Every day students will draw inspiration from animals living in a different region and create their projects in a new art medium.

Portfolio Prep Workshop (SYCAM-29)
If you are interested in pursuing the arts as a career this workshops is a must. Participants will be introduced to college-level art evaluation techniques and learn about various career paths in the arts. The LUX is a unique venue for this workshop as we employ full-time artists, a gallery director, curator, designer, arts educators, and arts administrators. All will participate in a Q & A session with participants. There will also be plenty of time devoted to creating new or refining previous works of art with the instructor’s guidance.

Drawing & Illustration Workshop (SYCAM-31)
Spend a week working with the adept illustrator Jon Love learning to draw your own ideas.. Create realistic or fantastical characters and environments that you can use in graphics, comic books, story books and more.

Teen Clay Lab (SYCAM-32)
Work with the instructor to make your own ideas come to life in clay. This class is ideal for those who have taken a clay class before and want more time in the studio to do self-directed projects. The instructor will always be on hand to provide guidance. Both wheel-thrown and hand built projects are welcome.

Painting Workshop (SYCAM-26)
Work with the instructor to make your own ideas come to life in paint. This class is ideal for those who enjoy painting and want more time in the studio to do self-directed projects. The instructor will always be on hand to provide guidance. All materials are provided but you are welcome to bring your own as well. Students will also learn to stretch, staple, and gesso a large canvas.
