When school is out, creativity is in session! LUX offers camps for ages 5-8, 9-12, and 13-16. All camps coincide with LPS summer vacation.

Ages 5-8

July

Clay Creations Camp 
This camp is perfect for kids who love clay! Students will learn a variety of techniques to make sculptures and pottery. Projects will change daily and from camp to camp so our repeat campers can try it all! This camp takes place in our brand new state-of-the-art ceramics center located in the building just west of the main LUX parking lot.

Tuition: $120 LUX members ($150 non-members)

Drawing & Painting Camp
Students will build their skills in painting and drawing. The first half of each day will be spent learning techniques and the second half will be spent creating a finished project. Experienced students are welcome to join us and continue to improve their skills!

Tuition: $100 LUX members ($125 non-members)

Art Zoo
Students will have a blast learning about animals from all over the globe while exploring painting, drawing, ceramics, and mixed media art. Every day students will draw inspiration from animals living in a different region and create their projects in a new art medium.

Mini-Masters
Students will learn about famous movements in art and its prominent artists each day. Projects will allow students to explore the different styles of painting as well as the methods of creating them.

Character Camp
Paint, draw, and sculpt all kinds of characters! Students will design their own zombies, vampires, monsters, and more, to be the subjects of their art.

Theater Camp
Create, rehearse, and perform a short play in one week! Your child will work on creating costumes, props, and sets while learning the fundamentals of acting and performing. Camp will culminate in a final sharing on Friday afternoon for all to enjoy. (Please note this class is for ages 5-12 and is limited to 8 students)

Tween Pottery Wheel Camp
Spend a week learning about the exciting possibilities of clay! Students will create a variety of dishes using the pottery wheel. Beginning and experienced students are welcome. This camp takes place in our brand new state-of-the-art ceramics center located in the building just west of the main LUX parking lot.

Work with the instructor to make your own ideas come to life in clay. This class is ideal for those who have taken a clay class before and want more time in the studio to do self-directed projects. The instructor will always be on hand to provide guidance. This camp takes place in our brand new state of the art Ceramics Center located in the building just West of the main LUX parking lot.

Portfolio Prep Workshop
If you are interested in pursuing the arts as a career this workshop is a must. Participants will be introduced to college-level art evaluation techniques and learn about various career paths in the arts. The LUX is a unique venue for this workshop as we employ full-time artists, a gallery director, curator, designer, arts educators, and arts administrators. All will participate in a Q & A session with participants. There will also be plenty of time devoted to creating new or refining previous works of art with the instructor’s guidance.
