Lincoln City Library Unveils New Community Mural by Chloe Burgett
Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and community representatives dedicated a new mural on the west-facing wall of the South Street branch of Lincoln City Libraries, located at 2675 South St. The 24-by-10-foot mural was designed by local artist Chloe Burgett.
“This mural by local artist Chloe Burgett symbolizes civic pride, celebrates a love of reading, and highlights the vital role our public libraries play in the lives of our community members,” said Mayor Gaylor Baird.
The design was selected by a community panel featuring representatives from the City of Lincoln, LUX Center for the Arts, and the Country Club Neighborhood Association. The project was made possible through a generous $10,000 grant from the Country Club Neighborhood Association, with LUX Center covering all administrative costs. The support from these two organizations ensured that all expenses were fully covered.
Joining Mayor Gaylor Baird at the dedication were artist Chloe Burgett, Ryan Wieber, Director of Lincoln City Libraries, Joe Shaw, Director of LUX Center for the Arts, Mary Monahan, representing the Country Club Neighborhood Association, as well as City Councilmembers Sändra Washington, Bennie Shobe, and Southwest District representative Justin Carlson.
