Save Art Postcards Presented to Senator Deb Fischer
Save Art Postcards Presented to Senator Deb Fischer
This week LUX Associate Director, Joe Shaw, presented more than 200 signed 'Save Art' postcards to Senator Deb Fischer's staff. Shaw spoke of the significance of the National Endowment for the Arts' funding for LUX Center for the Arts and for other small art organizations across Nebraska.
The LUX began our 'Save Art' campaign earlier this year to let our friends and neighbors know the importance that the NEA has for small arts organizations in Nebraska. Last year, the LUX received a $10,000 NEA grant to provide art programs to at-risk youth in our community. Cuts to the NEA means less funding for the LUX and the arts in Lincoln.
Shaw will also be presenting more than 200 postcards each to Congressman Jeff Fortenberry and Senator Ben Sasse in our effort to encourage our elected representatives to support the National Endowment for the Arts.
Thanks to everyone who signed postcards, called their elected representatives, and let them know how important arts organizations are to our community in Lincoln and Nebraska.
