I’ve always been interested in finding a way to make art relevant to life. To that end I have worked with older artists in their last years to preserve their work; organized exhibitions, written books and articles, taught in prison, in community centers and in higher ed, created activist artwork with homeless rights groups, unions, and organizers. All of this is a way to create some sort of place for art in a world which for the most part doesn’t have much use for art outside of the marketplace. I work primarily in relief print and screenprint.
