Whether designing an illustration or original print, narrative or decorative, my ideas are triggered by the graphic elements I observe and am attracted to in the natural world. I see strong lines, bold shapes, distinct values, saturated colors and patterns all around. Watching the rhythm of the flora and fauna as they change throughout the seasons has a deep influence on how I see the world. !The relief printing process appeals to my desire to make things with my hands and an appreciation for craftsmanship. Using knives and gouges to explore and realize a design is an immediate and meditative process. For me, it is the perfect way to express my love for and celebrate the beauty of the world in which we live. !!
