Maximalism, one of the elements of modern quilting, is used in many art forms from paintings to music to interior design to quilting.  Often, there’s very little open space in maximalist art.  The eclectic nature of maximalism means all the elements are layered together to create interesting and filled compositions.

Maximalism is
……more-is-more (layers of fabric, lots of colors, entire surface covered)
……mix of prints (variety of patterns and textures) or use of bright solids)
