Crisha Yantis
Crisha Yantis grew up mostly in Olympia Washington. After many years in Seattle she relocated to Athens Georgia where she received her BFA in Ceramics at the University of Georgia. Her time in Georgia included working on clay sculpture, enjoying the southern community of clay workers, watching rainstorms, and dodging mosquitos. She just completed her third and final year of graduate school this Spring at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she spent summers enjoying the amazing bike trails and splendid cloud filled skies of Lincoln.
My narratives are explorations of a character’s relationship with their internal and external worlds. The psychological states they exist in are personal, yet intended for universal interpretation. The narratives are meant to be curious and ambiguous as the characters give subtle clues, hidden within a slight giggle or dashing of the eye in response to their unfortunate circumstance. They are intended to have undertones of heavy subject matter but with a digestible delivery. This delivery is achieved through their

I make the narratives on a larger scale, but here they are represented on hand built porcelain forms combined with decorative floral and geometric patterns intended for everyday use and enjoyment.
