Catherine Wild
Catherine Wild
Wild’s work is in private and public collections including the Burnaby Art Gallery, Carleton University Art Gallery, Nelson Art Museum, University of Alberta and the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery. Wild is a professor in the department of Studio Arts at Concordia University. She previously served as the dean of Concordia’s Faculty of Fine Arts between 2005 and 2015 and also as dean, Faculty of Foundation Studies at OCAD University between 1996 and 2005. Wild has also held academic appointments at the University of Alberta, Arizona State University, the University of Toronto and John Abbott College.
As an artist working primarily in print-media, Catherine Wild’s creative practice draws on diverse cultural sources in the broadest possible way. Creating fluid relationships between found surfaces, patterns and slightly absurd, biomorphic forms that work towards the representational, her images often convey a state of compression or weightless hovering.
