Danielle Dewees
Danielle Dewees is an artist and designer living near Bennet, Nebraska. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Art with an emphasis in graphic design from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2014. Danielle makes artwork in her in-home studio. Her medium of choice is relief printmaking, though she has also worked in digital art, graphite, and watercolor.
I hope to inspire others to discover a deeper appreciation for the natural world. From an early age, I recall attempting to imagine what the landscape around me in south-central Nebraska looked like before the roads, towns, farmsteads, and fences. As an adult now, I find myself seeking out environments that show little to no impact from industrialization. My relief prints attempt to convey my explorations and experiences in these environments through precise and purposeful design. Much of my current work investigates the history and current circumstances of the North American Bison–once a prominent figure in the Great Plains, now absent from the natural landscape.
