Donna Brown
Donna Brown
Donna is a Southern California transplant and has spent nearly forty years in the San Francisco Bay area, raising a family and enjoying life. Although schooled as a scientist and working as a microbiologist for many years, Donna has always been an artist. She worked in jewelry fabrication, ceramics and metal casting before discovering printmaking in 2014. From that point on printmaking has been her passion. The entire procedure from imagining the image to carving the plate, inking the plate and printing the image all allows for the subtle variations that add to the mystery of the process that she so much enjoys. Donna’s artwork is generally figurative and focuses on special times with family and the people in her life that inspire her. Her artwork attempts to capture the joy of special moments frozen in time. Donna is a member of the California Printmakers Society and the Santa Barbara Printmakers group. Donna is currently enjoying her time as an Artist in Residence at the Kala Art Institute.
