Afternoon Spring Break Camp: Youth Clay Creations
Afternoon Spring Break Camp: Youth Clay Creations
Youth ages 9-11 can work with their hands and use their imagination while experimenting with clay in this fun clay camp! Students will be introduced to basic hand building techniques (slab building, coiling and pinching) they can use for the creation of sculptural and/or functional pottery. More experienced students can work with the instructor to explore their own ideas! Some examples of projects might include pots, lidded boxes, sculpted animals/ characters, bird feeders, plates or platters. The possibilities are endless! Please wear clothing and shoes that can get messy! Work will be ready about two weeks after the camp. All materials and firing provided.
LUX camps are offered for kindergarten graduates through students who are 15 years old. All campers must have completed kindergarten (no exceptions) prior to attending camp and must have basic classroom skills. Students must be at least 9 years old to learn the pottery wheel and age 10 is even better as the person throwing must be physically large enough to push the clay around. Please select camps based on your child's current age. Kids - Age 5-8 (must have completed Kindergarten), Youth - Age 9-11, and Teens - Age 12-15.
Note that we've extended our camp instruction and art-making time from 3 hours to 3.5 hours, so Afternoon Camps now START AT 1:30PM! Healthy snack still included.
