Precious Metal Clays
Precious Metal Clays
Explore the versatility of metalsmithing and make your own jewelry out of bronze and copper metal clay! In addition to learning different ways of utilizing bronze metal clay, students will also learn how to add color to copper using enamels. All supplies and tools are provided.
What is precious metal clay? Metal clay can be shaped just like any soft clay, by hand or using molds, but it contains very small particles of metal with an organic binder. After drying, the clay can be fired in a kiln or with a gas torch. The binder burns away, leaving the metal behind in the shape you created. Metal clay shrinks at a rate of 15-30%.
