Joseph Cavalieri’s "Endora and Friends" Exhibition Opens at LUX Center for the Arts

Monday, February 10, 2025

LUX Center for the Arts is excited to present a new solo exhibition, Endora and Friends, by renowned glass artist Joseph Cavalieri. The exhibition opened with a reception on First Friday, February 7, and will run through March 29, 2025, in the East Gallery. Cavalieri’s work showcases a playful and vibrant world of stained glass, inspired by his love of Endora, the magical mother-in-law from the iconic TV show Bewitched, as well as her enchanted companions.

The exhibition offers a captivating collection of stained glass works that blend traditional techniques with modern innovation. Cavalieri combines airbrushing, silk-screening, and hand painting with the classic process of firing enamels on glass, creating pieces that resonate with both nostalgia and contemporary flair. The exhibition is a unique celebration of Cavalieri's artistic mastery and passion for stained glass, a medium with a rich, centuries-old history.

A true expert in his craft, Joseph Cavalieri has showcased his work in major museums, including the Museum of Arts and Design, and his public art commissions, such as an installation at the Philipse Manor Station in New York, have earned him international recognition. Cavalieri’s commitment to the craft extends beyond creating art, as he has taught over 100 workshops worldwide, sharing his expertise with budding artists in the U.S., Israel, South America, and Europe.

In addition to the opening exhibition, Joseph Cavalieri recently taught a two-day workshop at LUX Center for the Arts, Imagery on Stained Glass, which was met with overwhelming demand and sold out quickly. During the workshop, participants learned to create stained glass panels using enamels, airbrushing, and silk-screening techniques, while receiving expert guidance from Cavalieri.

“We are thrilled to welcome Joseph back to LUX Center for the Arts,” says Joe Shaw, LUX Executive Director. “His workshops and exhibitions consistently bring new energy and inspiration to our community. The sold-out workshop is a reflection of his reputation as both an artist and teacher, and we’re so pleased that the public has the chance to experience his work in our gallery.”

Endora and Friends will be on display through March 29, 2025.
