My art career began after I retired from teaching Industrial Technology for 30 years in the Omaha Public Schools. I draw on experiences that I used in teaching woodworking and carpentry to develop the precision needed in the sculptural and turned compositions. I have spent many years following the art scene, while my wife pursued her art career. In addition to visiting various galleries and museums locally, we have also traveled the U.S. and abroad, always visiting museums and other art sites along the way. My goal is to create works of art that highlight my turning and carving skills in a creative manner, but also in some cases, to tell a story. My work has been shown locally, as well as in venues throughout the Midwest.
work exclusively with hard woods. The designs created are developed through the process of lamination, which involves many hours of planning and gluing individual pieces to form the design. Then the form is turned on a wood lathe and undergoes a finishing process to obtain the luster.
