My connection to nature as a source of creation is evident in my art practice, particularly in my focus on landscapes. By observing and feeling the natural world around me, I draw inspiration and themes for my artwork. It's interesting to note that my experiences in the Japanese countryside have reminded me of traditional Asian Sumi paintings, which often capture the essence of landscapes with minimalistic yet expressive brushwork.
I use the technique of mokuhanga, a water-based woodcut printmaking method. By employing this technique, I mimic calligraphic lines, adding expressive quality to my depictions of landscapes. This fusion of techniques and inspirations allows me to convey the realities me perceive through my own eyes and mind, resulting in artwork that offers viewers a glimpse into my personal interpretation of nature's beauty and serenity.
