Advanced Pottery Wheel: Zoomorphic and Anthropomorphic Pots
Advanced Pottery Wheel: Zoomorphic and Anthropomorphic Pots
Prerequisite: Participants must have either taken Advanced or Intermediate Pottery Wheel at LUX OR have prior experience elsewhere and feel comfortable with the basics of making various forms on the wheel in order to register for this class.
Students will explore techniques to alter and transform their wheel thrown pots into one of a kind figurative pottery forms! Think frog bowls, fish platters, cat cups, bird pitchers, head pots, face jugs and more! Students will be guided through various methods, both on the wheel and off, to create functional forms that capture the essence of an animal or human figure. Students will be given plenty of inspirational resources during class including demos, contemporary and historical figurative pots, historical pottery books, one-on-one feedback, and more.
This class will use high fire stoneware and conclude with a cone 10 gas reduction firing. One bag of commercial stoneware, kiln firings, and related glazes are included. Students also have access to the studio during open hours throughout this eight-week class. Please refer to the Open Studio Calendar in the Ceramics Center for the most up-to-date hours. Feel free to reach out to Neil with any questions. This class is for Adults 16+.
