Michele Peón Casanova
Michele Peón Casanova is a Nebraska native and a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's College of Journalism and Mass Communications. With over 30 years of experience in fundraising, donor management, and event coordination, Michele has made significant contributions to the cultural and arts community. She served as Development Director at the Lincoln Arts Council for six years before joining the LUX Center for the Arts.
Earlier in her career, she led the development efforts to expand a statewide public radio network and later oversaw the integration of the public radio and television fundraising programs. Michele also played a key role in establishing a major and planned giving program for public television and radio, culminating in a successful program endowment campaign that raised over $10 million.
Michele’s commitment to her community extends to her volunteer work. She has served on the Sheldon Museum of Art Board of Directors, and currently serves on the boards of El Centro de las Américas and the Association of Fundraising Professionals. In addition, she volunteers for numerous nonprofit and political fundraisers, reflecting her deep commitment to civic engagement.
Passionate about the arts and their ability to build connections, Michele is excited to continue her work at the LUX Center for the Arts. “The LUX brings creativity, inspiration, and hands-on art experiences to everyone in our community, and I’m thrilled to support its mission."
