Projects may include bowls, mugs, and vases. A paying adult must accompany all children age 11 and under. Participants age 9 and under must share a wheel with a parent/guardian. Teens, age 12-15, do not need a parents/guardians to stay, but they MUST be reachable in case of emergencies. Pieces will be clear glazed by the instructor and will be ready for pick up in 2 weeks. Intermediate wheel students will build skills and fluency with clay by exploring the foundations of the pottery wheel with a variety of fun exercises and loose assignments. The class will begin with an overview of the basics (wedging, centering, pulling, etc) to build a solid foundation and help give students confidence to take on more complex forms. Students will learn, in depth, about the process of turning clay into ceramic including drying stages and moisture management, firing processes, decorating techniques, fixing mistakes, planning forward, and more.

A quick and dirty class that lets you dip your toe into the basics of wheel-thrown pottery. This three-week ceramics course is designed for people with no background in clay looking to experience the wheel in an easy and no-stress environment. This class is a wonderful way to familiarize yourself with our studios and begin joining our community! Students will use earthenware clay and low-fire glazes.
