In this workshop led by Visiting Artist Maggy Rozycki Hiltner, participants will make small art quilts using fusible adhesive, cotton, and found materials. Students will create in response to the materials at hand rather than a set pattern. Construction and basic decorative stitches will be covered. All materials are provided and no sewing skills required. All materials provided.

Three projects, three gifts for kids to make and wrap. We can’t tell you exactly what they will make (because you might be the lucky recipient) but we can tell you there will be a painting project, a jewelry project, and a 3D art project. All projects are designed to display the students’ artistic ability in a way that parents, grandparents, and friends can use or be proud to display. This workshop is for Kids age 5-8 and Youth age 9-11.

Explore your voice through creative expression! Expressions of Art and Hope is a series of free art classes for individuals living with and beyond cancer. These classes are usually held the second Monday of each month in collaboration with CHI St. Elizabeth and the LUX Center for the Arts. All participants must register individually. Classes take place at the LUX Center for the Arts from 6:00-8:00pm.

Create a black and white winter scene using charcoal! In this workshop, participants will explore value, how light or dark an object or area is, as they draw a winter landscape or other scene. All materials provided. This workshop is for adults 16+.

Learn how to create your own Polaroid Lift with artist Maddie Aunger!  In this 2-1/2 hour workshop, Maddie will instruct participants on how to use an image on their phone to print a Polaroid using a Polaroid Lab and the Polaroid app.  Participants will then learn to lift the image emulsion onto watercolor paper.

Pre-printed Polaroids will be used to practice the technique, and we will also print and lift a few Polaroids of each participant’s choice.  This delicate process is experimental and addicting! 

This workshop will introduce beginning students to the fundamentals of painting with watercolor paints and allow more advanced students time to hone their skills. This workshop is for Adults 16+.

This family workshop will introduce parents and youth to the fundamentals of painting landscapes with acrylic paints, while allowing more advanced students an opportunity to hone their skills. All paints and materials provided. This workshop is appropriate for ages 5+. For youth, an adult must participate in the workshop. The tuition fee covers one individual, so you must register each adult and child attending.

Create a beautiful centerpiece for your holiday table! In this workshop, participants will learn the basic skills of flower arranging using floral foam and live seasonal flowers. Participants will leave with their own floral arrangement. This class is for Adults 16+.

In this workshop, taught by LUX Artist-in-Residence Jewelya Coffey, participants will create a festive winter-themed felt banner sure to bring in some holiday cheer! Makers are free to bring a sketch, design their own embellishments, or use ones prepared by the instructor. All materials will be provided and no sewing skills required. This workshop is for adults 16+.

In this fun seasonal workshop, Youth age 9-11 and Teens age 12-15 will learn different types of patterns for cutting snowflakes and making festive garland. Students will leave with many different types of snowflakes strung together to decorate their homes. All materials are provided.
